Who we are

Blackberry Cottage comes from the passion for the sea and the interest of our parents, who in the Seventies fell in love with the Poets’ Gulf and decided to transform a ruin into a lovely holiday home. Over the years, the ruin has been completely restored, improved and extended, though maintaining the character of the area, with stone walls, wooden beams, “cotto” floors, and a garden formed by connected terraces.

We inherited from our parents this jewel and the same passion. We constantly try to improve the house and the garden to make Blackberry Cottage a wonderful place for us and our guests. We have been renting to foreign and Italian guests for more than 20 years and the hundreds of people who have stayed in Blackberry Cottage have always left nice memories and useful suggestions, which we try to incorporate from the income coming from the rental season. The new bathroom and a new terrace in front of the cottage are the most recent improvements.

Of Florentine origin, we both left our home town for love and adventure.

Baba, a history of art specialist, lives with her fiancée Stefano in Montevarchi (Arezzo), and works for the local cultural centre. You will meet both of them because they deal with the hand-over of Blackberry Cottage. They will be glad to welcome you and explain the features of the house this website cannot describe.

Alberto, an environmental economist, has lived abroad for several years, but it seems that he has finally found his harbour in Brussels, where he works for the European Commission. Last year he got married with Radostina and the stork has just delivered their first baby: Alexander!

Carlo, like a cousin to us, is the nephew of the “Grande Amerigo”, who rebuilt the Blackberry Cottage in the 80s. Just back from Australia, Carlo is now taking care of the guests when Baba is not around. Ask him about the best way to ride a wave or the best restaurant in the surroundings, he will be pleased to give you advice!
